8 ZIPs make OCR's bottom 25

Eight South OC ZIP codes were among the 25 least-performing areas in Orange County in the third quarter - including Ladera Ranch, which ranked as the very worst - according to Jon Lansner's analysis.

The rankings track year-over-year changes in prices and number of sales, plus foreclosure density.

Here is what Lansner says caused No. 83-ranked Ladera to be at the top (or bottom, however you want to look at it) of the list:

"...poor performances in all three categories the Zippys track — pricing momentum (68th of 83); sales momentum (51st) and foreclosure density (71st.) The new community has suffered from a rash of over-eager homebuyers getting strapped with new houses they could not really afford."
The other communities on the bottom of the list (from "worst" to less worse):
No. 82: Dana Point, 92624
No. 78: San Juan, 92675
No. 70: San Clemente, 92672
No. 64: Foothill Ranch, 92610
No. 63: RSM, 92688
No. 61: Laguna Hills, 92653
No. 59: Laguna Niguel, 92677
