Our comment: This house also is available for lease at $5,500 per month. We'll assume the owners are totally loaded and they plunked down a hunk of cash even though they bought during the bubble, because if they put "just" 20% down on this property, their monthly expenses should easily be $7,000+.

Maybe in Utopiaville.

The HOAs and Mello-roos are nearly $1000/month in CH. Add in the extra $1100/month for Taxes and Assessments. Add in $7000/month for P/I, $300/month for insurance, and a few hundred for maintenance, and you're way way short. I'd say they're out of pocket $10,000+ per month. That's not even considering the opportunity cost. This alligator is going to eat someone.
