Bush greets Air Force reservists
The main focus of this week's Presidential Race is scheduled for Thursday, when Sen. Kerry and President Bush will take part in their much-anticipated debate.
Not surprisingly, a great deal of election coverage has centered around this impending event. Some online news sources like the Washington Post's website consider the debate a last-ditch effort for Kerry to make a comeback, saying that "the debates that begin this week may be the best chance remaining to close the sale with voters and beat President Bush."
Despite the complicated (and some would argue ineffective) format, one thing is sure: for Kerry, it's either win or go home.
My favorite election coverage has to be MSNBC.com. It's website boasts all the bells and whistles you can ask for. My favorite is the "Harball's Horserace" interactive segment of the website that includes a eight-pronged spread of windows including an electoral votes map, a video window providing streaming video coverage, a poll, a humor cartoon, and a monitor keeping track of Bush and Kerry's recent visits on the campaign trail. Nice.
Besides the smooth-looking multimedia coverage, the website also includes articles from other reputable news sources including washingtonpost.com. When I'm checking MSNBC I've got no doubt that I'm going to know exactly what's going on (MSNBC, hope you liked the endorsement, please send my check ASAP).
But we can't all live in the world of made-for-internet television coverage. That's why I'm in favor of The Arizona Republic's content as well. If there's an online news outlet with as much consolidated (and might I add really easy to navigate) coverage out there, I haven't seen it yet.
The Republic appears to specialize in forwarding readers to other coverage of coverage of Iraq's interim prime minister Allawi and his visit to the U.S., including the Associated Press and The New York Times.
